My ancestor John Conley was married in Washington County, MD in Clear Spring in 1805 at the German Reformed Church there to Elizabeth Smith, the daughter of Jacob Smith and Elizabeth Brown. His middle name apparently was Carroll, and I have wondered about a link to your area due to the Carroll name. I unfortunately do not know his father's name.
